Welcome to the website of Nová Říše, a small municipality located at Českomoravská vrchovina (the Czech and Moravian Highland) near the town of Telč. The municipality is surrounded with woods and there is a small river called Vápovka flowing around where people used to pan for gold and which, after leaving Nová Říše, flows into the river Dyje. The past is commemorated by a church and a cloister. Although Nová Říše has always been a typical Czech agricultural municipality, it has played an important role in the history of music, literature and art.
